Individual Therapy for Young People
Service Description
Young people and students may come to therapy when life has become too pressured, confusing, lonely, or emotionally intense to manage alone. This may show itself as anxiety, low mood, anger, withdrawal, loss of motivation, perfectionism, self-doubt, conflict at home, difficulty with friendships, or uncertainty about identity and the future. For students living away from home or studying in another country, emotional difficulty can be intensified by language, culture, family expectation, academic pressure, loneliness and the fear of disappointing others. Therapy offers a space where a young person can be taken seriously, speak more freely, and begin to understand their feelings, needs and choices. When working with young people, I pay careful attention to confidentiality, safeguarding, parental involvement and professional boundaries. These are discussed clearly at the start.
